Marriage 1 : Mary Robin NUGENT , b. [private]
Notes:
Born at Rahway Memorial Hospital in Rahway, NJ, after 7 pm on Feb. 14, 1953. I was told by my parents that I almost didn't make it to the hospital, since my father had forgotten his wallet and had to return everyone home to retrieve it. I was born early (they were hoping I would be born on Feb. 15, my Aunt Pegg's birthday), and they only name they had picked out for me was Jenifer.
After living in Rahway, NJ, on Plymouth Drive (across the street from my aunt and uncle) for a year, we moved in May to our brand new house in Colonia, N.J., at 1 Runnymede Rd.
I attended grade school in Colonia and then attended Avenel Junior High through grade 8. I attended high school at Darrow School in New Lebanon, NY. Following high school graduation, I attended Elmia College (Elmira NY) for one year majoring in Liberal Arts, completing a photography independent study in Europe during the spring semester. I then attended Middlesex Community College (Edison NJ) for one semester (studying photography), and then attended Ohio University (Athens OH) majoring in Fine Arts and minoring in photojournalism. After the university discontinued their photojournalism program, I left college and worked as a free-lance photographer for the Boston Globe for a short period, before turning my attention to emergency medical services.
My father, Robert, met my mother, Francis, when they were both acting in the theatre. At the time of my birth, my father was a program director-producer for the National Broadcasting Company. My father frequently took me to work with me, since at the time he was involved with directing and producing childrens' television shows, starting with the Howdy Doody Show. The last time he took me to work with him was for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1963 (a photograph of my brother Larry and I, in the opening number for the show, appeared in 1964 in National Geographic Magazine).
During the summers I attended summer YMCA camp.
My mother, Francis, died on April 15, 1964. She had been ill at home, and the family doctor had come to the house the night before her death. I remember the doctor telling my father that he wanted to put her in the hospital, which had just expanded with a new wing, but the hospital was filled with flu patients. On the morning of her death, as I was leaving for school, I went to kiss her good-bye and she was irritable and cross with me. Later in the morning, the family called for an ambulance but she died on the way to the hospital, around 11 AM. Later in life, when I knew more about medical emergencies, I became convinced she had died of an undiagnosed diabetic emergency.
After my mother died, I was cared for by my aunt Adele when my father was working. We also had a housekeeper, Mary Anfield, who also cared for us, and there were two women from France who lived at our house caring for us. In 1966 I went to a boarding school in New York. In 1964 we sent the summer at a camp in Bridgton, Maine (Camp Milbrook).
Darrow School was a boy's boarding school at an old community that used to be the Shaker Headquarters, in the Berkshire Mountains. "Hands to Work" was a weekly activity, all Friday afternoon, where I learned many skills and the importance of community particpation. Camp Milbrook was a two-month event that included a weekly two-night or three-night trip for mountain hiking, sailing, canoeing, or horse-back riding. Both Darrow and Milbrook taught me a great appreciation for the outdoors. It was also at Darrow that my friend Steve Murphy and I walked down into town weekly to take a standard and then advanced first aid course at the local rescue squad.
Following my graduation from Darrow in June, 1970, I originally went to college intending to be a lawyer or an actor. I eventually changed directions and decided to be a photo-journalist. After that course of study was dropped by the university before I completed my studies, I decided to go out on my own and finish learning the occupation through work. While photographing a water recovery of a drowning victim, I decided that I really wanted to be on that side of tragedy, and began looking for work in the field of emergency medical services.
I completed an emergency medical technician course at Newberryport Community College (Newberryport MA) and then a firefighter couse. Paramedicine was just becoming an accupation, so I left Massachusetts for Florida where paramedic courses were available, completing my paramedic training at Miami Dade University while also remaining involved in the fire service. After suffering a gunshot wound, I decided to leave the Fort Lauderdale-Miami area and moved to Bradenton, FL, working for Manatee County EMS. I missed the seasons and accepted a job in Charlotte, NC, but returned to Florida after a week. I eventually accepted a job with the City of Louisville Emergency Medical Services and moved to Louisville in 1979, working there and volunteering with local fire departments. In 1988 I was hired to conduct the first paramedic training course for Frankfort Fire & EMS, eventually becoming a Batallion Chief and EMS Director. I returned to Louisville EMS when efforts began to merge Louisville EMS with Louisville Fire and Rescue, but eventually left in 1995 to enter the field of helicopter emergency medical services. I worked for Jewish Hospital SKYCARE (the first air medical program in Kentucky). In 1998 SKYCARE and University of Louisville Hospital STAT Flight were merged into Louisville Medical Center. In 2006 the hospitals decided to sell the flight program to CJ Systems Aviation, and in 2007 Air Methods Corporation purchased CJ Systems Aviation, where I contine to work, currently as a business manager.

Marriage 1 : Susannah WALTON m. 17 March 1795 (Chatham) NC, b. 15 December 1775, d. 05 September 1841
Notes:
Date of death may have been 21 Jan 1848
__
Research notes:
Solomon had a brother named Jesse Neville, Jr. born Dec. 2 9, 1781 and one named Samuel Parks Neville, born Mar 23, 1790, m. Elizabeth McCauley (if this birthdate taken from a family Bible is correct, then Samuel would be too young to be the Samuel on the above Mont. County , Tennessee tax list in 1801) Other brothers include Benjamin, Goodman, and Wiley Whitley Neville. Sisters were
Cynthia Aris, Elizabeth, and Selah.
Solomon Nevill had business dealings with a flatboat business near Fulton, Kentucky that shipped horses and, unfortunately, slaves down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.
-----
Last summer we discussed some puzzling connections between Solomon's family and that of the above George Nevill. In surveying court records and looking at the 1820 census, Solomon Nevill and George Nevill's son John seem to have lived closer to each other than John lived to his father George. Solomon Nevill and John Nevill and John's brother George Washington Nevill also had business dealings over in the area of far western Kentucky where John had a flatboat business near Fulton, Kentucky. He shipped horses and, unfortunately, slaves down the Mississippi River to New Orleans. According to a descendant of George Nevill, a lady who still lives in Montgomery County , TN, George Washington Nevill built the flatboats for his brother John. I don't know what Solomon's role was in this but he was right there in the same area at the same time. According to Kathy Duncan, who is a descendant of Solomon, one of Solomon's descendants married one of George's descendants. . Solomon, born 3 Apr,1777, is the one who went to Montgomery County, TN, where George Nevill lived (George born 1784, d. 1811, m. Rachel Earle, lived in Fauquier County , Virginia before going to North Carolina and to the Greenville, SC area.) George does not seem to be related to Solomon, but George's son John is the one who hangs out with Solomon quite a bit. George's son George Washington Nevill who m. Rachel Killebrew is the one suggested as a possible ancestor for you.
Kathy Duncan, is a descendant of Solomon through his son Granderson Nevill. She found evidence that a descendant of George Washington Nevill, Armitea Travis, may have married Granderson. There is still speculation about this in discussion on our list.

Marriage 1 : Frances Strother SMITH m. 27 November 1881, b. 17 March 1861, d. 12 December 1947
Notes:
Birthdate may have been 18 May 1846 in Staunton, , Va
From William Barlow Ware Jr. Jan 3, 2003:
He became a well known banker in Staunton, VA and they bought a large house on Gospel Hill. Interesting to note that the house still stands and is now entitled the Woodrow Wilson Birthplace Museum [Wilson born next door, and that house as well stands as part of the Birthplace property. [ My grandmotherly Emily Smith responsible for Birthplace property restoration fundraising, etc. over decades. A determined civic leader. ] They had three children all born in that house - Robert Craig, your grandmother Frances [Tiggy to us], and finally my mother Katherine Taylor. Some years later the family moved from Staunton to Washington, since Dada was asked to become an officer at the well known Riggs Bank there. The three children were teenagers at the time and I was told the family lived above Rock Creek Park sort of where Kalamora Circle is today. From earliest memories I have understood that Dada became President of that bank, but I can't confirm the fact. Unfortunately Dada started having multiple strokes at a somewhat early age [just over 50] and retired. Incidentally oldest child Robert Craig Effinger eventually became a Vice President for Investments at the Irving Trust Company, One Wall St., retired to Staunton in 1956 with second wife Anne Turley. There is an Effinger Mausoleum, Thornrose Cemetry, Staunton where generations of Effinger family have been buried: the "ancients" plus Dada, Nana, Uncle Robert Craig + wife Anne + their only child & my first cousin Robert [Bob] Craig Effinger Jr. who died 9/6/01, my mother Katherine. I'm scheduled to be buried there as is Mary Glover Effinger, Bob's wife. That may be it, no more space.
Dada died age 85 in his Bronxville home after multiple strokes which started, I was told, when he was about 51.

From William Barlow Ware Jr, Jan 3, 2003:
In about 1938 following Mrs, Gregg's death my mother, Nana & I moved into a single and larger apartment [17 East 89th St.].
In 1959 my mother died of cancer in Roosevelt Hospital, New York, NY at age 63. You should know that during my formative years in Manhattan my cousins Frances & Peggy were very close to my mother and I believe she had a strong sense of being a surrogate mother. Peggy & my mother came to my Cornell graduation in 1947.
