John Hultgren Photography is available for contract photo assignments. Our specialty is emergency medical services and public safety photography because, with 52 years of experience in public safety, we really know that industry. Photos are perfect for display in an office and for use in promotional material, conference booth displays, organization calendars, brochures, flyers, web sites, social media, and press releases.

Info! We do not have the equipment or the experience to do wedding or studio portrait photography and you will be more satisfied working with a professional photographer who specializes in those areas.

John Hultgren Photography offers full-day or half-day packages on a "Per-Image Pricing" model, including travel expenses. For a full-day assignment you agree to purchase a limited commercial photo license for four photographs. For smaller projects that take about half-a-day to complete, you agree to purchase licenses for two photographs. Of course, if you are happy with our work you can purchase additional commercial photo licenses and prints to display. This model reduces your risk and rewards us if you are happy with our work.

Commercial Photo License

You may order prints from us in a variety of styles and sizes to display however you wish without purchasing a commercial photo license. Prints purchased from us do not require a license and may not be copied, reproduced, or redistributed. To make your own prints, or to redistribute the photo on a web site or in promotional material, you must purchase the graphic file. Graphic files are sold with a commercial photo license and are available in four resolutions (sizes) and can be downloaded immediately after your purchase.

What you can do with a Commercial Photo License: John Hultgren Photography grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to use the accompanying image(s) or video(s) (collectively known as "Media,") for permitted commercial purposes. Permitted commercial purposes are defined as:

use for advertising, promotional, brochures, and packaging purposes;
as part of a commercial website for promotional purposes (maximum 800 x 600 pixels);
creation of photographic prints, posters, flyers, or tearsheets for promotional purposes (not for resale) or other commercial display of Media;
use in magazines, books, newspapers, and other printed publications; and
use in video, broadcast media, and theatrical productions.

What you may not do with a Commercial Photo License:

The buyer may not resell, relicense, or redistribute Media without the express written permission from John Hultgren Photography.
The buyer may not use Media as part of a derivative work, and reselling or redistributing such derivative work is prohibited.
Media may not be used in a pornographic, obscene, illegal, immoral, libelous or defamatory manner.
Media may not be incorporated into trademarks, logos, or service marks.
Media may not be made available for download.

John Hultgren Photography retains all rights, license, copyright, title and ownership of the Media.

There is no warranty, express or implied, with the purchase of a digital image or video file. John Hultgren Photography will not be liable for any claims or incidental, consequential, or other damages arising out of this license or the buyer's use of the Media.

A signed contract and a retainer fee equal to 25% of the package price are required to reserve the dates and times for your event.
The client is responsible for all travel, accommodation, meal and transport expenses (where required, unless provided by the client), for securing access to the location, and for securing models used for the event. The client is also responsible for obtaining all model release forms, which must be retained by the client for as long as they intend to use the photographs.
All photographs produced by John Hultgren Photography are protected by Federal Copyright Law (all rights reserved) and may only be reproduced by the client with the purchase of a commercial photo license which transfers a limited copyright ownership of the image to the client and allows the client limited rights to create their own photographic prints and reproduce the photo on social media, Internet sites, news media, and in printed promotional publications for an unlimited time. Photographic prints may also be ordered from our company and displayed as you see fit without a commercial photo license.
Four full-resolution electronic digital photographs, accompanied with a commercial photo license, of your choice from this assignment are included with our daily package. Two full-resolution electronic digital photographs, accompanied with a commercial photo license, of your choice from this assignment are included with our half-day package. Additional electronic digital photographs with commercial photo licenses are available for purchase.
If your needs differ from our standard photography packages, please contact us for a custom quote. We understand that some local goverments may have different purchasing rules and we are happy to discuss compliance.
We certainly understand that things just happen. If a scheduled assignment has to be rescheduled, we will gladly reschedule at no additional charge. If a scheduled assignment has to be cancelled, you will forfeit your retainer fee. If any expenses have been incurred prior to your request to reschedule or cancel, then the client is responsible for those expenses.

Daily Base Rate	Our "Daily Base Rate" considers a "day" to be approximately 8 hours of travel, photography, and post-production and editing time. The client is responsible for acquiring all permits and necessary permission for all locations on which we will be performing services, along with any required models and their releases. Half-Day Base Rate	Our "Half-Day Base Rate" is considered to be approximately 4 hours of travel, photography, and post-production and editing time. The client is responsible for acquiring all permits and necessary permission for all locations on which we will be performing services, along with any required models and their releases. Two full-resolution electronic digital graphic files of your choice, with a commercial photo license, from this assignment are included with our Half-Day Base Rate package (a $200 value).	$200
Standard Photo Processing	All of our photos require processing and post-production. This includes adjustments to the exposure, contrast, color correction, sharpening, and minor editing (such as removing a stray piece of litter or a blemish). Custom Editing	Editing is included in your base rate and includes such things as removing a stray piece of litter or a blemish. Custom editing is available, when practical, for more complex tasks such as changing a photo background and is available at an additional charge.	$25 per 15 minutes of computer time.
Travel	Standard business mileage rate as published by the Internal Revenue Service. Required air and public transportation is reimbursable in full upon presentation of receipts.	$0.535 per mile driven
Per Diem	Daily allowance to cover living expenses as published by the General Services Administration when an overnight stay is required. Any travel adding up to over 500 miles counts as a per diem day. The first and last days of travel are billed at 75% of the daily General Services Administration per diem rate, while all other days of travel are billed at the full daily General Services Administration per diem rate. If any meals or lodging are provided by the client, then the per diem rate for that specific meal, or lodging, will be considered paid. Info! A Per-Diem only applies when an overnight stay is required, or when any travel adds up to more than 500 miles.	Variable if an overnight stay is required or total travel is over 500 miles.
Travel Day	A travel day is any day preceeding and/or following a day where we take photographs for your assignment and an overnight stay has been required. We do not take photographs on travel days. Per Diem rates apply.	$200 / day.
Commercial Photo License	You can purchase individual photographs from your event as a digital download with a commercial photo license, which allows you to use the photo for business purposes subject to licensing restrictions. For packages that include digital photos with a commercial photo license, you will receive a coupon code after post-production is complete that will allow you to download the number of photos included in your package at the full "Original Image" size at no additional charge. After your coupon has been used you can purchase additional photos with licenses if desired. Info! You need a digital download with a commercial photo license to redistribute a photo (such as on the Internet or in a brochure), or to make your own prints. You can redistribute the photo an unlimited number of times and make an unlimited number of prints. You do not need a digital download with a commercial photo license to order prints from us for display. A digital download is simply a copy of the original image file, sized in one of four ways. Digital downloads are available immediately after purchase. You should purchase the largest size that you expect to use (you can always print smaller photos than the file resolution, but printing larger than the recommended resolution will produce unsatisfactory results). You are purchasing a commercial photo license with each digital file purchased (please see the explanation above). When post-production is complete we will provide you with an Internet address (URL) to an on-line hidden photo album. This album is accessible to anyone with the URL. When you view a photo that you wish to purchase, simply select the "Buy" button and navigate to "Downloads". Select "Commercial Photo License" and selct the file size desired. We will provide you with a coupon code to use at checkout for the number of "Original Image" files included with your package. Please note that this coupon code can only be used to purchase "Original Image" sized files to download. We offer four file sizes (with different resolutions) for digital downloads: Web Size: A "Web Size" image is roughly 640 x 480 pixels in size, or 0.3 megapixels. This is great for web sharing on your Internet site or on social media sites. While computer monitors vary, the most common desktop and notebook computer monitor width is 1366 pixels, so the width of a landscape-oriented "web size" photo on a common desktop or notebook computer monitor would extend across approximately half the page. Low-Res 1Mpix: A "Low-Res 1Mpix" image is roughly 1 megapixel in size, approximately 816 x 1224 pixels, which is big enough to print at 8" x 12" with satisfactory results. Hi-Res 4Mpix: A "Hi-Res 4Mpix" image is 4 megapixels. The Hi-Res 4 MP file is twice the size of a 1Mpix file, approximately 1632 x 2448 pixels. It’s big enough to make a 16" x 20" print with satisfactory results. This size that allows for quality printing at most reasonable sizes. Original Image: An "Original image" is the original 45.7 megapixel image that we captured, identical in every way to the file that we use to produce our prints. Photographic Prints	You may order high-archival-quality photographic prints directly from your photo album (accessed with the URL that we will provide to you after post-production is complete). You do not need a commercial photo license to order and display a print but you may not copy and reproduce the print because it is protected by Federal Copyright Law. Guide: How to order prints We offer photographic prints on three different types of photographic paper in 65 different sizes. We also offer prints on traditional canvas, rolled canvas, and metal. Prints can also be orderd mounted and framed. We also offer flat metal and curved metal desk art, 22 keepsakes, and 4x8 flat cards and 5x7 folded cards.
