I am a professional photographer who teaches photography at a local university and public library, and everything I teach in my twelve 90-minuite classes is covered in this book. By using my simple four-step system, you can plan your photo outings and your photos' compositions. You will learn how to properly measure and set your camera's exposure settings, and how to properly focus your camera so that you can obtain a properly exposed and sharp image. Since all photographs need at least a little editing, I will demonstrate how you can use either Adobe Lightroom Classic® or the free GNU Image Manipulation Program (known as GIMP) to make quick and easy adjustments and corrections to your images so that you end up with a pleasing photograph that you will be proud to share with others. I also recommended helpful photo equipment, such as tripods, ball heads, and cable releases, that most photographers find essential. And I will teach you how to photograph challenging situations, such as sunsets, fireworks, and panoramic images, along with different ways that you can display and share your finished photographs.
I have been taking photographs for over 60 years and teaching photography during retirement. This book is a compilation of my introductory classes that I developed the curriculum for, where you will learn how to take better photographs and then learn basic photo editing, so that you will be proud to share your photographs on social media or as a print.

Spring, with the return of vibrant colors from newly blooming wildflowers, comfortable weather, and the renewal of nature with fresh green foliage after a long winter, is the perfect time of the year to visit, explore, and photograph the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So is Fall, with all of its wondrous autumn colors. And at any time of the year, our Photographers Guide to the Great Smoky Mountains is a wonderful gift for any photographer on your holiday gift list!
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a bucket-list destination for outdoor photographers, and our book groups 71 of the park’s most photogenic locations into six manageable park regions that make exploring the park easy. Our 195 sets of GPS coordinates direct you to all of the places included in this book, and there are maps and 32 of my best park photographs, most with camera settings, that are also included.
I spent over forty years regularly visiting and exploring the Great Smoky Mountains, looking for the best places to photograph. I kept a list so that I could know where to return, but with the introduction of GPS, all of these places are now very easy for anyone to find, and I want to share them. In most cases, each location includes multiple sets of GPS coordinates for where to park, where the trail begins, and where the attraction lies, along with descriptions.
