Survey: How would you treat this patient?

The following survey on pre-hospital treatment priorities is being conducted by the University of Louisville Department of Emergency Medicine.

Even we don't know its intended purpose, which is secret to prevent tainting the results. This is a two-part survey -- part one will be available until April 1, and then the second survey will be available.

This survey is being distributed in various forms throughout the state. Please only take the survey once. Also, please answer the questions without referring to any books or obtaining any help. Your answers are confidential and your location within Kentucky cannot be identified.

When you arrive on the scene, your patient is a middle-aged male sitting up in a recliner. He does not respond to verbal or painful stimuli. He has shallow breathing. He is pale and clammy with a slow weak carotid pulse and no radial pulses noted.

Please list your order of treatment for this patient:
