Funeral arrangements for Don Adams

MOREHEAD Donald Lloyd (Don) Adams, age 63, the retired EMS Director for Morehead-Rowan County EMS and formerly the EMS Director for Medical Center EMS and a Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association board member, passed away Sunday at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Darlene Adams, and two children: Kevin Adams and Kim Adams, both of Morehead. Other survivors include two sisters, Brenda Adams and Diana Jones and husband Bobby, all of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Born June 13, 1947, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, he is the son of Fred Adams of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and the late Winona Ferguson Adams.

Don was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Western Kentucky University. While residing in Bowling Green, Don had been a Security Guard at the Corvette Plant, Director of Medical Center EMS, Kentucky State Police Dispatcher, and J. C. Kirby Funeral Home employee.

Don moved to Morehead in 1993 to become the Director of Morehead-Rowan County EMS and served in that position until 2002.

A volunteer for many organizations, Don had served on the State Board for the Kentucky Heart Association and the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board. He had been State Chairman for the Kentucky Junior Miss Program and a former member of Jaycees, Big Brothers, and Morehead Rotary Club. He was a former Pee Wee football coach and for the past several years had filmed Morehead State University football games.

He also loved golfing, driving his ’79 Corvette, and watching all kinds of sports, especially basketball.

Don was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowling Green and an associate member of Morehead United Methodist Church.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Dr., in Morehead, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association.
