Carter County acquires LUCAS chest
compression system Carter County Emergency Ambulance Service Press Release GRAYSON — Carter County Emergency Service announced today that it has purchased five LUCAS chest compression systems for the front line ALS Ambulances. The LUCAS chest compression system is an external, mechanical device that provides chest compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Designed for use in emergency care by paramedics, emergency medical technicians, fire and hospital personnel, LUCAS is indicated for treatment of adult patients in cardiac arrest. LUCAS is simple to use and apply, interrupting manual compressions for less than twenty seconds. LUCAS also increases operational effectiveness of emergency medical teams and enhances opportunities to improve outcomes for cardiac arrest patients. “We believe this newly acquired technology will enable us to provide even better care for patients in cardiac arrest,” said Jerry Horn Administrator of Carter County Emergency Ambulance Services. Having the LUCAS system for our field personnel to use at the scene of a cardiac arrest and during transport will enable us to deliver a more viable candidate for recovery to the emergency department at the hospital.” Brian Webster, president of Physio-Control, said, We are excited that the LUCAS chest compression system will be available to residents in Carter County who experience cardiac arrest. By including LUCAS as part of its resuscitation services, Carter County Emergency Ambulance Service is demonstrating its commitment to leading edge in emergency medical service.
