E-mail scam targets Mercer County EMS

HARRODSBURG — Roxanna Parks, a Mercer County EMS employee, found that her e-mail account has been hacked into and that scam letters are being sent to hundreds of contacts saying she is stuck in Nigeria and in need of money.

E-mail "is how we communicate with other EMS agencies across the state of Kentucky," Parks told LEX18 news.

The subject line of the e-mail says "Emergency."

Nigerian e-mail scams are legendary and Parks is indeed in Mercer County and not in need of any assistance.
