FRANKFORTA bill in the Kentucky House related to taxes may end up requiring the collection of sales tax on air ambulance transports.

House Bill 262, filed January 10, would add a new list of services that are subject to the state sales tax. One of those services added is "chartered air flight services if a pilot is furnished."

John Scott, who wrote the bill for the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission, said today by phone that air ambulance services may in fact be included in that category. "That certainly wasn't our intention," Scott said.
