Funeral arrangements for Dennis Bradford, former Red Bird EMS director By JOHN HULTGREN Updated January 22,, 2008 BEVERLY — Dennis Bradford, the former director of Red Bird EMS in Beverly, passed away Sunday in Hazard following a long illness. Bradford, still active with the department, had celebrated his twenty-fifth years with Red Bird Fire and Rescue last month. He was director of Red Bird EMS from 1986 until 1999. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 5-9 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Town Branch Road, in Manchester. The funeral will be held Thursday at the church with Fire/EMS services beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Those attending who are members of fire or EMS departments are asked to wear their uniforms. "The loss to our department is immeasurable," wrote Revelle Lawson, a captain at Red Bird Fire and Rescue. "Dennis was an inspiration to all and his dedication to the fire, rescue, and EMS service was endless. There is no way to know the countless number of lives that Dennis has touched." Bradford is survived by his with, Ruth Ann; two children, Sherry Cocanougher and Lori Day; and two grandsons, Michael Cocanougher and Carter Thomas James Day.
