Funeral arrangements for Theresa H. Martin

LOUISVILLE — The funeral for Theresa Hughes Martin, 59, a registered nurse and EMS-Instructor who was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning, will be held Friday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at the New Brandenburg Baptist Church with burial in Cap Anderson Cemetery. The church is located at the intersection of Hwy 1638 and Hwy 448 in Brandenburg, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held at the Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg on Thursday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will also be held Friday from 9 a.m. until the start of the funeral at the funeral home.
The family welcomes everyone who can attend.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy be sent to the Kentucky EMS Olympics, c/o Kentucky Association of EMTs, PO Box 178, Elizabethtown, KY 42702. Mrs. Martin had been a strong supporter and a member of KAEMT and the Olympics.
Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Savannah, GA, and received her BS in Nursing from Bellarmine College. She was an EMT and EMT Instructor for over 30 years, past president of the Kentucky EMT Instructors Association, a former instructor at JCC School of Nursing, a former director of nursing at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital and Floyd Memorial Hospital, and was currently a nurse at Caritas Hospital. She was a member of New Brandenburg Baptist Church and a former member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Chester and Myrtle Faye Hannah Hughes; and a brother, Carl Patrick Hughes. Mrs. Martin was the loving wife of W. Wayne Martin; caring mother of Cindy K. Miller (Scottie) of Irvington, KY, Fay Knott (Jason) of Flaherty, KY, and Jean Barger (Jamie) of Guston, KY; grandmother of Cody Wayne Miller, Jaycie Fay Barger and Brady Daniel Knott; and devoted sister of Carol Hughes Sanchez of Indianapolis, IN, and Jon Henry Hughes of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
