PHI of Kentucky completes its first night vision goggle flight PHI Air Medical of Kentucky Press Release LEXINGTON — PHI Air Medical of Kentucky is pleased to announce the introduction of Night Vision Goggles (NVG) technology to its fleet. The safety of our patients and crew has always been a keystone of PHI’s operations. With the addition of NVG technology, the safety of flight will be dramatically bolstered. PHI Air Medical of Kentucky is the first air medical program in the State of Kentucky to employ this technology. On October 2nd, PHI completed its first flight utilizing Night Vision Goggle (NVG) technology. At 2250h on Oct. 1, PHI was dispatched to The Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson to transport a patient to the University of Kentucky. PHI Kentucky Program Director, Gary Stromberg, states, “We are pleased to continue to provide to the region exceptional customer service rooted in strong safety practices and bolstered by cutting edge technologies. PHI’s financial and operational investment in Night Vision Goggle Technology is an excellent example of that ongoing motivation.” Currently, the bases in London and Morehead employ night vision technology while the remainder of the PHI Kentucky Bases will follow in the next 90 days.
