Former Louisville EMT killed in Iraq
By JOHN HULTGREN LOUISVILLE — Jeffrey Wiener, 32, a former EMT who has worked for Jefferson County EMS and Yellow Ambulance of Louisville, died May 7 in a combat related incident while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. According to a former co-worker, Rick Robbins, Wiener first joined the Reserves and later went active duty. Third Class Petty Officer Weiner was a Navy Hospital Corpsman assigned to the Second Marine Expeditionary Force. At least 1,603 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
