EMS
local officials training
PADUCAH
—
Providing
emergency medical services to your community is an awesome task and
responsibility. With many local governments now facing severe financial
constraints, providing essential public safety programs such as EMS is
becoming more and more difficult each budget cycle. Reductions in Medicare
payments, Medicaid payment cuts, increased costs of personnel and equipment,
and insurance coverage, along with increasing fuel costs, have made the past
years an uphill climb for providing emergency medical services for many
local governments.
The Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association is again offering an "EMS
101" course at the 2004 Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo in Owensboro,
Kentucky. The course is designed to look at three major areas of providing
EMS as a local service: Medicaid reimbursement, legal pitfalls, and EMS in
crisis. The six hour course will be designed to provide local officials with
the basic knowledge to more effectively monitor and provide local EMS
operations. The course has applied for 6 hours of HB 810 credit.
The training will be offered as a pre-conference on Sept. 14, 2004 from 9:00
a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CDT. Registration fees are $125 per county, and an
unlimited number of individuals from your county can attend under your
registration.
