STATCARE's 'EMS Appreciation Cruise' sets sail May 19 By
JOHN HULTGREN LOUISVILLE — STATCARE's annual EMS Appreciation Cruise sets sail again this year on May 19, during National EMS Week. The cruise, free for the EMS community, is provided as a token of appreciation for the "hard work, community service, and your impact on patient care," according to John Blumenstock, STATCARE's executive director. "The dedication and constant effort that it takes to excel as a pre-hospital caregiver is often frequently overlook," Blumenstock said. The cruise will be aboard the Belle of Louisville, a steam-powered sternwheel excursion boat with a capacity of 800 passengers, built in 1914, that is owned by Metro Louisville. The three-hour event will include a cruise up the Ohio River, food, non-alcoholic beverages, music, and door prizes. A cash bar will be available. "STATCARE and the Louisville Medical Center appreciate and support your efforts throughout the year," Blumenstock said. "The cruise is just one small way to express that appreciation." STATCARE has sponsored the annual cruise aboard the Belle of Louisville since the early 1990s.
