GRAYSON — Firefighter/EMT Randy G. Utley, 30, died in the line of duty Monday when his vehicle hydroplaned while responding to an emergency call.

Utley was a firefighter with the Grayson Fire Department and an EMT with Carter County EMS.

Utley had left the scene of a traffic accident to answer another emergency call. It is unknown if Utley was responding to a backlogged medical call or a high-water rescue at the time of the crash.

He will be buried with full honors.  Visitation will be held at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson from 7:00 p.m. today and all day Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, at 1:00 p.m. but are incomplete at this time.

Apparatus staging will be at the Grayson Fire Department at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
