Medical Center's EMS receives EPA award Press Release BOWLING GREEN — The Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services recently received the Unites States Environmental Protection Agency 2002 Partnership Award. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Partnership Award is given annually to individuals and organizations that "go beyond what is required by law or job description in fulfilling the spirit of preparedness, prevention and response, particularly with creativity and innovativeness." The award recognizes the work performed by The Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Service’s Specialized Emergency Response Team (SERT). SERT was established in 1990 to deal with the increasing threat of chemical releases and exposures in the community. "We are very proud to receive this award from the EPA," said Randy Fathbruckner, Director of Emergency Medical Services. "There are many facets to providing emergency services in a community. Our SERT personnel work very hard in preparing for the worst and dealing with dangerous situations. The EPA award is a nice recognition for the men and women who perform these specialized services." The Partnership Award was presented to The Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services at the EPA’s Region III Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Conference held in December in Baltimore. The Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services provides the only ambulance service in Warren County and also provides ambulance service in Auburn, Russellville and Lewisburg. The Medical Center and The Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services are subsidiaries of Commonwealth Health Corporation, which is based in Bowling Green.
