Downtown Louisville road closings for 'Thunder Over Louisville'

Some roads and exit ramps in the vicinity of the downtown Louisville hospitals will be closed Friday evening through Sunday afternoon for "Thunder Over Louisville."

OVERVIEW OF KENTUCKY ROAD CLOSINGS

THERE WILL BE NO "ON STREET" PARKING ON ANY STREETS NORTH OF MARKET STREET. ALL PARKING WILL BE IN PARKING GARAGES OR SURFACE LOTS NORTH OF MARKET STREET. 

VEHICLES AND PEOPLE ATTEMPTING TO PARK/CAMP OVERNIGHT ALONG THE RIVERWALK OR NORTH OF MARKET ST. WILL BE "ASKED" TO MOVE BY OFFICERS.

  • I-64 westbound ramp at 3rd Street will be closed from 6:00 p.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.
  • 7th St. at Main Street from 9:30 a.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.
  • River Rd. from 7th Street to Clay Street from 9:30 a.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.
  • The 2nd Street on ramp to I-64 East from 9:30 a.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.
  • 2nd street from Washington to River from 9:30 a.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.
  • 4th Street from the Galt House to River Rd. from 9:30 a.m. on Friday 4/20/01 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 4/22/01.

CLARK/2ND STREET BRIDGE:

Beginning Wednesday, 4/18/01 the Second Street bridge will be closed on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, 4/18/01, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to Midnight:  Sidewalks and both north and south driving lanes.
  • Thursday, 4/19/01, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to Midnight: Sidewalks and both north and south driving lanes. 
  • Friday, 4/20/01 9:30 a.m. to Midnight:  Sidewalks and both north and south driving lanes.
  • Saturday, 4/21/01 Thunder Day: Entire bridge will be closed all day.
  • Sunday, 4/22/01, 12:01 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. - Entire bridge closed.

 

OVERVIEW OF INDIANA ROAD CLOSINGS:

The Clark Memorial Bridge and U.S. 31 from the State Road 62/ U.S. 31 Split : Closed Friday 3:00 pm to Midnight Saturday.

Riverside Drive from Pearl Street West to Fort Street : Closed Friday, 3:00 pm to Midnight Saturday.

The Market Street Exit Ramp from I-65 South (Exit 0) : Closed Saturday, 7:00 am to Midnight.

The Court Avenue Exit Ramp from I-65 North (Exit 0) : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

Riverside Drive from Jeffboat West to the City Limits : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

Market Street from Mulberry Street West to the City Limits : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

Southern Indiana Avenue from West Court Avenue South to Riverside Drive : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

Missouri Avenue from Clark Blvd South to Market Street : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

The River Bank Area from Jeffboat West to Kennedy Bridge : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight.

RiverPointe Plaza from Market Street South to Riverside Drive : Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight

The Alleys on the North and South side of the floodwall from Mulberry Street West to the City Limits or end of the alley: Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight

The Alley on the South Side of the floodwall from Jeffboat West to Mulberry Street: Closed 4/21, 7:00 am to 4/21 midnight

All of the above mentioned residential streets will be open to residents and their personal vehicles until 5:00 pm with the exception of Riverside Dr. Streets will be reopened at the discretion of the Chief of Police, depending upon traffic congestion and the safety of pedestrians in the area. All streets are projected to be opened by 12:00 midnight. (Approximate)

The I-65 exit ramp (Exit 0) for North and Southbound traffic will be closed by the Indiana State Police at 7:00 am on Saturday, April 15, 2000. Only Tourism Buses will be allowed to exit from I-65 southbound at exit 0.
