KBEMS publishes program manager position

Submitted by REGINA PICKLE
Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services

Program Manager

The KY EMSC Program Manager will be a contracted position that will serve directly under the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS), the newly formed EMS regulatory Board. The Program Manager will be the advocate for children’s issues within the newly developing EMS regulations and policies. The Program Manager will be responsible for KY EMSC program administration and for performance of contractual agreements under the contract from KBEMS. With the guidance of the KBEMS Executive Director (and if appointed by KBEMS, any EMSC Advisory Committee and /or Task Force) he will determine goals and objectives of the EMSC program, and network with a variety of professional and community groups to encourage adoption of pediatric resources developed. The Program Manager will also oversee the EMSC training network, collaborate with the Kentucky Emergency Medical Services Academy, maintain a file of persons that have taken the training classes for reporting purposes, implement a quality assurance program, and identify new issues that need to be integrated into training and facilitate that process. He will coordinate and work closely with the KBEMS to provide adequate pediatric input to ensure that the needs of all children are addressed at the state level, including doing the necessary research (identifying model products, programs, strategies) so that key spokespersons are well informed. He will coordinate efforts with the KBEMS and it’s Executive Director to identify and recommend appropriate pediatric representation on all committees and/or task forces that may be appointed by the KBEMS or its Executive Director.

The KY EMSC Program Manager will attend all meetings of the KBEMS and identify a pediatric spokesperson for any committee meetings or task force meetings that may be taking place simultaneously to maintain pediatric input. This amount represents 100% effort for the Program Manager.
