We have read all of the condolences that have been posted and have been comforted by the love and friendship that Brian has received. The EMS family is part of our family. We are so happy that Brian got to realize his dream to work at JCEMS. The past five months have been the happiest time of his life. The friends he made through the past five years at both Yellow Ambulance and Jefferson County EMS are the finest people we've ever met. The support we received during the past week through the love, hugs and prayers have helped comfort us during this terrible ordeal. Brian was the joy of our lives and we were so proud of what he had become, as a man and as our son. We love him now and will love him forever. We will see you again Brian. Love, Dad and Elaine

Brian your smile will be forever missed. You could make a person laugh no matter what the situation was with just that smile of yours. You will be greatly missed. It was great working with you at Yellow when we were partners. I am so glad that you finally got your wish to work at JCEMS. It was always a dream of yours. My heart and prayers go out to you family. We will all miss you.

I've read so many of these beautiful condolence messages and I don't think I can add anything else except to say that Brian always made me laugh, as he did everyone. My prayers and thoughts are with his family and my heart breaks for this tremendous loss to the EMS community. We can all only hope to be as dedicated as Brian was and to enjoy what we do as much as he obviously did. You were a big teddy bear, Brian, and we all will never forget you. We will never know all the hearts Brian touched as he cared for those who were ill or injured. May his death remind us how fragile life is, and how awesome the love is that we all feel for each other in this profession of EMS - fire, police, medical, rescue, SAR. We may not know the man or woman - but we know the heart, and that's why our hearts break for Brian's family, co-workers, and friends. May God give us His peace, and may Brian's family feel God's peace and love during this tragedy.

privilege of knowing Brian for a long period of time. I serve as a member honor guard and I feel a overwhelming sense of honor knowing that I was able to carry such a great person to his final place of rest. Although Brian was a step brother to me I always thought of him as being my brother. I lived in LaGrange KY a few years ago and Brian was always there for me. I'll always remember one Saturday in 1999 when me and Brian went to Churchill Downs. It was my first time there so he was explaining everything that was gonna happen. We went up to the balcony to watch the race and we sat in the front row. We noticed that everyone was looking at the tvs and not the track but we didn't think anything of it. Well, when the bell rang, me and Brian looked for the horses and they weren't anywhere to be seen. It turned out that it was the Breeders Cup and people were only there to bet on the race and watch it on tv. I'll always remember Brian and think of him often.

There aren't enough words to express how much Brian's brothers and sisters in the EMS community mean to me. The support,
strength, hugs, stories and love you shared with me both in the hospital and in these few days following Brian's death mean more to me than you will ever know.
Yesterday's service was so moving and so special - I can only imagine Brian looking down at all of us in disbelief with that crooked grin of his. And I hope you all know that if this horrible situation had happened to any one of you, Brian would have been standing right where you were, in support of his EMS family and friends.
Brian is my special angel. He may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten. He'll live forever in all of our hearts.
I meant what I said to a lot of you - come visit - stay in touch. I'm still going to need hugs, especially from big guys I can't quite get my arms around!

We are all here to serve our public, and it is truly noticed that what you all do for the public; you can Never be paid enough! The (2) two most important Commandments that God gave are; That you Love the Lord with All of your
Heart, All of your Soul, All of your Mind, and All of your Strength. The second one is that you Love your Neighbor as you Love yourself. If you all can go out day in and day out and do what you do, then that is following God's commandments. Brian is still with you guys, he is just doing things on God's terms now. Our hearts hurt for you as you say "until we meet again" to Brian today. We are praying for God's comforting arms to embrace you today and in the tomorrows also. Our daughter, Katie Vogt, worked with and knew Brian very well. We know Katie's passion for her work. We understand the passion Brian had for his work. It is a rarity for young people to love their jobs so much and to give their all. Thank you for raising a son that wanted to help others and gave right up to the end of his life on earth. Katie shared with us that Brian reminded her of her own brother. She probably saw Brian more than her brother T.J. It seems the hours the EMTs work that they are at work more than at home. There seemed to be a special bonding that Brian and Katie had. Joe and I will continue to pray for understanding and peace during this time. Any one of us parents could be in your shoes today. We are unable to understand all of your pain and emotion yet we have a small glimpse of it. We care very much. May God surround you with friends and family to help you through this difficult time.
Most sincerely,

The loss of Brian is being felt all over the U.S. if not the world. My heart goes out to the family of Brian and to each and every one of us who is hurting at this time. Here are two poems I have kept with me for a long time that help me through these difficult times, I hope they will help you:
"Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds
encircled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die."
2nd I'll lend you for a little time, a child of mine, He said. For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three. But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me? He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief, You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return, But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have
selected you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again? I fancied that I heard them say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done. For all the joy thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may; And for the happiness we've known, will ever grateful stay. But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
God bless each and every one of you!

Brian you are such a special person. I don't know how life is going to be without you. We have been there for each other so many times. I would have never thought that the guy I worked with my first day as a
paramedic would end up meaning so much to me. I was glad that I was able to spend your last moments with you. I couldn't let you down, I had to be there for you. You have always been there for me. I love and miss you. There will not be a day that goes by that I won't remember you in my heart.

I was very saddened to hear that Brian has passed away from us. He will surely be missed by those who knew him. Brian is out among the stars now, paving the way for us and future generations to come. His devotion to his career provided a path so others may live. He sacrificed his life and will live in our thoughts forever. To his family I send my deepest sympathy, but try to remember this: Brian lives in so many of us and most of us never met him. We shall remember him as part of the brotherhood of EMS. He is gone but his memory will live forever -- regrettably he couldn't. None of us can -- We should all thank him for the impact he made. The difference, and those who he gave a second chance too. The giant of a man -- giant's dreams, giant's hopes. We must keep striving -- not only for his memory, but for our own. My thoughts go with his family, his colleagues, and of course his friends, all of us. Brian left our world for a better one… But he left behind many who will miss him. It is the mark of the man that we remember the most. Rest in Peace Brian…

I was with Brian the first day he was on the street after his Orientation class. It was time to go to work. Never in my 15 years did I see someone that was so happy to be at work. Oh yah I have seen smiles like that before my kids on Christmas morning, me as I posed with my just born kids and my wife on our wedding day. It reminded me of my first day at work riding with the Scum Brothers (Bruce G. and Joe H.) many years ago. We were riding St. Matt and Major Strange saw Brian walk into the house and yelled “Jennemann where did you get that uniform?”. Brian swelled up walked a little taller and just smiled that is when I learned he was a well liked ex member of St. Matthews. Brian was truly happy to be who he was and where he was. I liked the man and I will miss him. We must carry on now without him and we better people for knowing him. My deepest sympathy goes out to Brian’s blood family and to his other family my co-workers at JCEMS and friends at Yellow. He truly was the Gentle Giant.

I am the secretary at JCEMS and I wanted to let everyone know that I
received numerous calls from citizens expressing their condolences and
sympathy. A couple of ladies from St. Alban's Episcopal Church came by the
office and expressed their sympathy and let us know their congregation prays
weekly for rescue personnel. We also received calls from other emergency
medical agencies offering usage of their services to cover for our crew if
needed. I think it is wonderful when people come together this way. Thank
you to everyone who called.
