Kentucky EMS Line of Duty Death bill introduced

FRANKFORT — Rep. David Floyd pre-filed a bill in the Kentucky House yesterday that would extend the state line of duty death benefit to any emergency responder volunteering for or employed by a licensed ambulance service, when the emergency responder dies in the line of duty.

The Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association's Legislative Committee, chaired by Joe Prewitt, has been working with Rep. Floyd on this bill since last year. During the 2008 Legislative Session, the bill was amended and never made it out of committee. Last year's attempt included other public safety groups, but this year their focus is only on ambulance responders.

The bill can be read here: BR 494
