Kentucky EMS Line of Duty Death bill introduced
FRANKFORT —
Rep. David Floyd pre-filed a bill
in the Kentucky House yesterday that would extend the state line
of duty death benefit to any emergency responder volunteering for
or employed by a licensed ambulance service, when the emergency
responder dies in the line of duty.
The Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association's
Legislative Committee, chaired by Joe Prewitt, has been working
with Rep. Floyd on this bill since last year. During the 2008
Legislative Session, the bill was amended and never made it out of
committee. Last year's attempt included other public safety
groups, but this year their focus is only on ambulance responders.
