Force Report |
John
Hultgren reported on the Statewide Communications report and
the need for a united plan to present to Homeland Security and
to utilize this plan over the next 4 years.

EMS Advisory Council |
Ken Knipper
was invited to update the group on his involvement in this
Council. Motion made by Duane Lee and Second by Terry Akin
that we request Ken Knipper and Patti Howard to attend the
June Meeting. Ken gave a report on the NHTSA Project. The
Committee is yet to meet but he is optimistic about EMS
receiving a separate funding stream for Homeland Security. |

Rural Health |
KRH and
KAPA will be hosting an administrative training session on
April 12th from 9a – 4pm EST in Lexington.

Conference
Report
|
Joe
Bradshaw reported on the conference plans. He stated that
there was $11,000 seed money for 2008. The Golf scramble will
be on Tuesday at 11:00 and the KAPA meeting will be Tuesday
night. The main conference will be Wednesday - Friday with the
Banquet on Thursday night. Steve Berry will be the Keynote
speaker. A vendors reception will be held Wednesday night and
“Lunch with the Vendors” will be on Friday. Sherman
Hockenbury requested that the Governor be invited to speak at
the Banquet and that the AAA be invited to the Tuesday night
board meeting. |

Legislative
Report |
Sherman
gave a report on Legislative issues.
1)
Medicaid-
Education needs to start ASAP with Legislators and we need a
meeting with the new Medicaid Commissioner.
2)
Medicare- Proposed
legislation is tied to the Physician reimbursement bill for a
3% Urban and 5% rural increase.
President
Mark Harrison requested that the committee approach the Senate
leadership about attaching a floor amendment regarding funding
of EMS in the state trauma plan. Motion to this effect by
Duane Lee, Second by Terry Fraley. |

KBEMS |
Sherman
gave a report on KBEMS and the changes in SB-66 funds. Motion
by Duane Lee to have KAPA make a formal request that KBEMS
reconsider the reduction in SB-66 funds for 2008. Second by
Sherman. |
