Public Education plan/ Grant

Dan Durham presented an idea for a KAPA funded Public Ed grant available to KAPA members. This grant would be available to assist services in

Promotional events and programs in their community.

Conference report

Joe advised that the individual mailing cards were found to be the best way to promote the conference.

Moving Golf Scramble to Tuesday afternoons.

There was a significant savings in 2006 in the food bill. Conference account- $14578.53

CMRS Appointment

The Kentucky Commercial Mobile Radio Service Emergency Telecommunications Board contacted KAPA regarding a vacant board position.  They requested an EMS representative that met the requirements established by statute.  Mark Harrison submitted names and was later notified that Marsha Penney, E-911 director in Marshall County had been appointed by the Governor’s office.

 

KY Hwy Safety

Taskforce

 

Thomas Adams will be representing KAPA on this taskforce.

 

Legislative Report

The GAO Medicare study is complete. The results have not been released yet although it appears that nationally EMS services are being provided to Medicare recipients below most service’s costs. 

Governor Fletcher is considering action to help offset EMS’s increased fuel costs related to Medicaid transports.  

Sherman reminded all services to be present for Governor’s appearances and remind him of our needs. 

Joe Bradshaw explained the Washington Legislative meeting process and also that of our annual State legislative reception.

 

KOHS

 

Discussed meeting with Governor and with Homeland Security office during April. Letch Day from KBEMS has been working to reopen dialogue between KBEMS and KOHS. Letch is requesting help from KAPA in identifying needs and priorities.

 

KBEMS update

KBEMS will be setting up regional updates for the

Zoll AEDs.

Letch day updated all present on the current delegation of duties at KBEMS in the absence of a director.

 

Retired KAPA Members

Motion by Sherman Hockenbury to develop a list of all retired KAPA board members determine a recognition process. Second by John Hultgren.

Vacant Board Positions

President Harrison took the following action to replace vacant Board positions. 

David Webb ( Hopkins Co ) moved from At-Large to Region 2 position vacated by Nell Thomas. 

Danny Blevins ( Rowan Co ) appointed to Region 8 position vacated by Steve Becraft. 

Randy Fathbruckner (Medical Center- BG) appointed to fill region 4 position vacated by John Wenzel. 

Dan Durham (CTCR) to fill At-large position vacated by David Webb. 

Motion to accept action by Sherman Hockenbury and second by John Hultgren.
